Description Mini 4-H is for children in the grades K-2. Each of the six curriculum guides has instructions for from 7 to 11 activities and master copies of handouts for the youngsters. Mini 4-H activities are hands-on, user friendly, and fun to do. Units are flexible and can be used with one child or with a group of children. The units can be used in their entirety, or individual activities can be selected to emphasize specific skills. The manuals include activities that provide practice for mastery of skills at several different ability levels and encourage exploration of a variety of theme areas. Collections (4-H-911-1) explains how to start a collection of almost anything, from bottle caps, to coins, to rocks. Trees (4-H-911-2) examines the biology of trees, whereas Forestry (4-H-911-3) looks at the uses of trees and how they benefit mankind. Bugs (4-H-911-4) and More Bugs (4-H-911-5) take a look at the world of insects, while Space (4-H-911-6) delves into a topic that's out of this world. |

Description The Wonderwise 4-H Project is a series of informal science education activities designed for use in 4-H clubs, camps, and special interest programs. Fatimah Jackson, Ph.D., travels to Africa to study local plants that serve as food and medicine. She takes samples of the remarkable plants back to her laboratory to study. Her work with plants and people helps scientists learn more about the way certain foods prevent or cure human diseases.
