Welcome to the National Directory of 4-H Materials Where Staff, Leaders, Volunteers, Teachers and Youth can Find and Order Great 4-H Resources

The National 4-H Directory of Materials is a national database of 4-H materials designed to share national and state 4-H resources with educators, 4-H club leaders, youth and volunteers. This first of its kind online National 4-H Directory will allow you to share information about your 4-H projects, programs and more. Visit this directory often as 4-H continues to add new and useful resources to help you.
About 4-H 4-H is the only youth development program with a direct connection to technological advances from research conducted at the nation's 106 state land-grant universities and colleges. The fundamental 4-H ideal of practical, "learn by doing" experiences encourages youth to learn experiment, innovate and think independently. 4-H offers youth opportunities to master life's challenges, cultivate independence from caring adults, gain a sense of belonging and share their spirits of generosity.

"Celebrate Urban Birds", a citizen science project from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, invites families to go outside, describe their environment, look for 16 focal bird species, and report their observations to help scientists. Beautiful posters in the free activity kits make bird identification appealing and easy and forms are provided for reporting data. While learning about birds and the importance of local habitat, families become more comfortable exploring the outdoors, getting hooked on birds, and local habitat improvement.
Celebrate Urban Birds gets people outdoors, and engages families through the arts, gardening (habitat improvement), and celebratory events of all sizes across the US. A Celebrate Urban Birds event might involve a mother and daughter watching birds on their front stoop or an entire community coming together at a park. Celebrate Urban Birds has already distributed over 12,000 kits across the continent and is partnered with thousands of organizations. Specific ideas for libraries, nature centers, schools and youth groups, community gardens, home school groups, and more are included in the website.
It's so simple -- to participate just register and let us know how many kits your organization needs. We'll send you the kits for free and suggest ideas for holding celebrations of all sizes. It's a ready-made project easy to drop into your programming or curriculum. It couldn't be easier or more fun. Real science. Real conservation awareness. |
